Faisal Aboo, Managing Director of Pacific Limited, has pledged to extend his company’s borehole maintenance initiative to Thyolo district, where communities are struggling to access clean water due to non-functional boreholes and unprotected water sources.
Aboo attributed the widespread problem of broken boreholes to theft of spare parts and vandalism, but assured that his company is committed to reversing the situation.
Pacific Limited has already repaired over 8,000 boreholes across Malawi since 2015, earning recognition from the government and private sector for its efforts.
Aboo’s promise comes as a relief to residents in Thyolo district, who have been relying on streams and shallow wells for their water needs.
“We are eager to partner with stakeholders to ensure that every community has access to clean water,” Aboo said.
Pacific Limited’s borehole rehabilitation initiative includes sensitizing communities on forming vigilant committees to guard against vandalism and implementing simple borehole locking mechanisms.
